Dimora Maio

Halfway between history and legend Maio was a great character of Monopoli. Around 1200, in the full Aragonese era, along with his crew was forced to flee the city because unjustly accused of a crime.

He has taken refuge in the Greek island of Cefalonia and soon became Count. In short, he was able to annex under his rule Corfù, Itaca and Zante, the Turtle Island.
